معرفی
Associate Professor Brian Hawkett is a faculty member at The University of Sydney's Faculty of Science, serving as Director of the Key Centre For Polymer Colloids since 2008. His research focuses on advanced polymer and nanoparticle synthesis with applications in medicine, industrial materials, and environmental safety.
- Education:
- BSc (Hons) University of Sydney, 1974
- DipEd University of Sydney, 1979
- PhD University of Sydney, 1980
Research Interests: Specializing in controlled radical polymerization, particularly RAFT techniques, for creating polymer nanoparticles and composites. Key applications include:
- Biomedical: Hyperthermia cancer treatment, drug delivery systems, medical imaging contrast agents
- Industrial: Paint formulation, explosive emulsion stabilization, HDPE recycling
- Environmental: Microplastics removal from wastewater
- High-tech: Ionic liquid ferrofluids for aerospace, magnetic nanoparticle applications
Research Trends: His recent work combines RAFT polymerization with nanotechnology for biomedical applications (2018-2024), industrial material enhancements (2018-2023), and explosive safety (2015-2021). Collaborations span pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and environmental engineering sectors.
Advising: Currently supervises research students like Ali ZARE, focusing on epigenetic cancer treatments.
Scientific Leadership: Member of the Sydney Nano Institute and former Principal Research Fellow at KCPC (1999-2008).
