Brian Hampton

Brian Hampton is an Associate Professor of Sedimentology and Stratigraphy at New Mexico State University's Department of Geological Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from Purdue University and researches the interplay between erosion, sedimentation, and tectonic evolution of sedimentary basins using field-based approaches.

Research focuses on:

• Basin-scale provenance studies
• Tectonic controls on sedimentation
• Stratigraphic architecture analysis
• Paleogeographic reconstruction

Fieldwork includes significant projects in Alaska, Bolivia, and the southwestern U.S. Dr. Hampton was a Fulbright Scholar (2010) at McGill University.
