Brian Flynn

Brian Flynn is a Lecturer in the Department of Social Work at Binghamton University, part of the College of Community and Public Affairs (CCPA). He holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Arizona, an MSW from the University at Albany (SUNY), and an MA from Binghamton University.

With 21 years of clinical social work experience, Flynn specializes in crisis intervention, disaster mental health, and critical incident stress management. He has provided support to first responders and disaster-affected populations, including deployments to Ground Zero (September 11, 2001 attacks) and post-tsunami Thailand. He is an approved instructor for the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation and a member of HOPE Animal-Assisted Crisis Response.

Flynn’s work includes psychotherapy for HIV patients, emergency room social work, and grief counseling. His professional focus spans trauma recovery, post-traumatic growth, and disaster response strategies.
