Brian Catchpole is a Professor of Companion Animal Immunology at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), leading research in canine immunology, endocrine diseases, and vaccine responses. He is affiliated with the Department of Pathobiology and Population Sciences and contributes to research groups like Comparative Genomics and Endocrinology. His work focuses on immune-mediated diseases, diabetes mellitus, and improving diagnostics for conditions like Addison's disease.
Dr. Catchpole graduated from the RVC in 1992, completed a PhD in immunology collaborating with King's College London, and held roles including Lecturer and Senior Lecturer before becoming a Professor in 2014. He teaches immunology on undergraduate and postgraduate programs and serves as Teaching Coordinator and Director of Assessment.
His research explores canine innate immune response genes, vaccine efficacy, and age-related immune decline. Recent projects include a UK-wide leptospirosis epidemiology study and developing diagnostic tools for Addison's disease. He collaborates with institutions like MSD and BBSRC to advance veterinary diagnostics.
