معرفی
Brian Browning is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Medical Genetics at the University of Washington. He also holds an Adjunct Professor role in the Department of Biostatistics. His research focuses on developing statistical and computational methods for analyzing large-scale genetic data from microarrays and next-generation sequencing. He earned his PhD in Mathematics from the University of Washington.
Education
- PhD in Mathematics, University of Washington
Research Interests
Dr. Browning specializes in statistical genetics and genomics. His work addresses computational challenges in handling large genetic datasets, including genotype phasing, imputation, and identity-by-descent (IBD) analysis. He develops algorithms and software tools like Beagle, flare, and ibd-ends to extract insights from genetic data. His research also involves detecting IBD segments and estimating effective population sizes from genomic data.
Software Contributions
- Beagle: Genotype phasing and imputation.
- flare: Local ancestry inference.
- ibd-ends: Probabilistic IBD segment endpoint estimation.
- hap-IBD: IBD segment detection.
- IBDNe: Effective population size estimation.
