Brian Bowles

Brian Bowles serves as an Associate Professor in the Communication Design program at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD), where he is also an alumnus (class of 2001). His academic role bridges industry expertise with pedagogy, drawing from two decades of leadership in retail marketing and creative direction for global brands including Nike, Adidas, and Converse.

His professional focus centers on Branding and Logo Design, with significant contributions to Retail Marketing through in-store graphics, seasonal campaigns, and comprehensive brand overhauls. Bowles' signature style in visual identity development earned feature coverage in Sideburn Magazine (2019), highlighting his fusion of commercial artistry and strategic communication design.

Operating as a freelance designer alongside teaching, he specializes in hand-silkscreened event posters and brand systems. An avid outdoors enthusiast, Bowles balances his creative practice with motorcycle riding, mountain biking, and exploration of natural landscapes from Machu Picchu to Wisconsin State Parks.
