Dr. Brian Bennett is a Professor of Physics at Marquette University, where he has been affiliated since 2014 and previously served as Chair of Physics until 2021. He earned his education in the U.K. at the University of Cambridge and University of Sussex, followed by post-doctoral work at the University of East Anglia and Utah State University.
His research centers on the Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) Facility in Marquette's Physics Department, funded by an NSF grant and collaborations with Bruker Biospin. He investigates mitochondrial respiratory chain effects in cancer and metabolic diseases, and explores metalloproteins for green chemistry, pharmaceutical synthesis, and land reclamation. His lab collaborates with institutions like the Medical College of Wisconsin, Colorado School of Mines, and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
At Marquette, he teaches courses including Quantum Mechanics, Modern Optics, and Biophysics, and has been involved in education reform. He co-authored over 120 scientific papers and three book chapters, supported by competitive NSF and NIH grants.
