Brian Baugus, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business, Leadership & Management at Regent University. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from George Mason University, an MBA in Finance from Vanderbilt University, and a B.A. in Economics from McDaniel College. Prior to academia, he worked in consulting, banking, and as a senior budget analyst for the Maryland State Legislature. His teaching spans institutions in Maryland, Tennessee, Virginia, and international locations including Chile, Malawi, Uganda, and Ghana.
Dr. Baugus’ research focuses on public policy, electoral dynamics, and entrepreneurship within a biblical framework. He is affiliated with the African Bible University, Government Accountability Institute, and the Network for a Free Society (board member). His accolades include the 2017 Michael Szenberg Prize from The American Economist. He actively advises think tanks in sub-Saharan Africa and contributes to economic education initiatives globally.
His career combines academic rigor with practical experience, including roles in church leadership as financial secretary and church clerk. Dr. Baugus’ work bridges economic theory, policy analysis, and faith-based ethical considerations.
