Brian Barringer

Brian Barringer is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Biology at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He earned his Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Cornell University and his B.S. in Evolution and Ecology from the University of California-Davis.

• Teaches courses: Ecological Methods, General Ecology, Introduction to Plant Biology, Plant Ecology, Field Ecology of Southern Florida, History of Natural History, Introduction to Cannabis Science.
• Research focuses on plant mating systems, genome duplication (polyploidy), life history ecology, adaptation to stressful environments, invasive species, and hemp ecology in Wisconsin.

His publications span ecological modeling, plant genetics, and biodiversity studies. Notable awards include the 2025 UW-Stevens Point Excellence in Teaching, Scholarship and Service Award.
