Brian Armstrong is an Associate Professor in the Department of History, Anthropology and Philosophy at Georgia Regents University, within the Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. His academic career spans philosophy, literature, and interdisciplinary humanities. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Pennsylvania State University (2007), an MA in Comparative Literature from the University of Oregon (1996), and a BA in Philosophy from the University of Kansas (1993). He has received the Pamplin Professional Impact Fund Award in 2015 and 2014.
His research focuses on Dostoevsky’s philosophical contributions and interdisciplinary humanities, with publications exploring Russian literature and Socratic influences. Armstrong teaches courses such as Introduction to Philosophy, Philosophy of Education, and Ethics. He actively contributes to academic governance, serving as Chair of the Philosophy Curriculum & Development Committee since 2014, Chair of the Pamplin Pedagogy and Instruction Committee (2019–present), and a member of numerous university-wide committees, including the Honors Committee since 2013.
Armstrong’s service extends beyond academia, including roles as President-Elect of the Lake Forest Hills Elementary School PTO (2021–2022). His work bridges literary analysis and philosophical inquiry, emphasizing the intersection of ethics, narrative, and intellectual history.
