Brian Agee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Georgia Southern University, with academic appointments spanning the Department of Chemistry and Physics and the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science (Tennessee Technological University, 2015), an M.S. in Chemistry (2009), and a B.S. in Biology (2007), all from Tennessee Technological University.
His teaching focuses on Organic Chemistry and laboratory instruction, including courses like CHEM 3411 Organic Chemistry I and CHEM 3990 Undergraduate Research. He has been honored with the 2023 Outstanding Teaching Award from the College of Science and Mathematics.
Agee actively contributes to academic service, serving as Faculty Advisor for the Student Members of the American Chemical Society (CHEM Club) since 2016 and chairing the Laboratory Safety Committee since 2017. He participates in institutional committees such as the Instruction Advisory Committee and the Professional Education Council, and engages with national organizations like the ACS Student Committee on Education.
His research and academic interests intersect organic chemistry pedagogy, environmental science applications, and fostering undergraduate research experiences through hands-on laboratory work.
