Brian Adkins

Brian Adkins, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, specializing in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine and Hematopathology. He is board-certified in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology with subspecialty certification in both Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine and Hematopathology.

Dr. Adkins earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Biomedical Science and Biological Science at Marshall University, attended medical school at Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, completed residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and pursued fellowships at University of Virginia Health. His research interests include resident/fellow education and clinical research in transfusion medicine.

His extensive publication record focuses on transfusion medicine practices, hematologic disorders, and apheresis services, with recent work examining emerging challenges like cybersecurity threats to blood supplies and transfusion-transmitted infections.
