Brett Kirby is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Oregon's Lundquist College of Business, specializing in Sports Product Management and Sports Product Design. He holds a PhD in human nioenergetics from Colorado State University and completed postdoctoral fellowships in cardiology at Emory University and hematology/biomedical sciences at Duke University. He currently directs the human endeavor and performance team at Nike Sport Research Laboratory, focusing on holistic athlete performance optimization.
His research integrates applied integrative physiology, innovation, and human performance science. He has published over 35 peer-reviewed articles and consults/coaches athletes at professional and recreational levels.
In addition to his academic role, he serves as an honorary fellow at the University of Exeter’s Sport and Health Sciences Department. His work emphasizes identifying and overcoming human performance bottlenecks through science-driven solutions.
