Brett Hunt

Brett Hunt is an Executive Director and Professor at Arizona State University's School of Public Affairs (SPA). He holds degrees from the University of Colorado at Boulder and the Thunderbird School of Global Management. With over 23 years of leadership experience across public, private, and non-profit sectors, Hunt has served in the U.S. Army (deployed to Iraq, Kuwait, and stationed in Korea), worked at the Department of State as a foreign service officer, and led clean energy initiatives for the Department of Defense. He co-founded the Veterans Scholar Program at ASU and is active in veterans' advocacy through roles such as facilitator for Treks 4 Vets, member of Senator Mark Kelly’s Veterans Advisory Committee, and State Committee Member for the USDA Farm Services Agency.

Research & Professional Interests: Brett’s work focuses on cross-sector collaboration, social entrepreneurship, veterans' reintegration, and public service innovation. He emphasizes practical solutions to complex challenges in policy and administration, leveraging his military, diplomatic, and private-sector experience. His courses at ASU include 'Social Entrepreneurship' and 'Cross-Sector Collaboration,' reflecting his dedication to bridging institutional gaps.

Advising & Grants: As co-founder of the Veterans Scholar Program, he supports student veterans through academic and professional development. His grants and initiatives include managing Department of Defense clean energy programs and leading the national Next Generation Service Corps network spanning 21 universities.

Labs/Teams: He directs the Next Generation Service Corps, a collaborative network fostering public service across institutions, and contributes to advisory boards such as the Arizona Advisory Board for the US Global Leadership Coalition and the Madison Elementary School District Governing Board.
