Brett Furth

Brett Furth is an Instructional Assistant Professor in Maritime Studies at Texas A&M University at Galveston, affiliated with the College of Marine Sciences & Maritime Studies. He teaches courses bridging anthropology and maritime contexts, including Introduction to Social and Cultural Anthropology, Introduction to Archaeology, and Anthropology of Religion.

His research focuses on contemporary pagan practices, ethnoreligious identity formation, and critical approaches to science and pseudoscience, particularly in Texas communities. Publications analyze intersections of food rituals, European ancestry, and whiteness in Neo-Pagan subcultures.

Recent grants include Professional Development Grants from Houston Community College (2015, 2012) and multiple Travel for Research Grants from Texas A&M University (2010-2012). He received the Student Organization Advisor of the Year Award (2016) for mentorship roles.
