Frischmann's research explores the interdisciplinary nexus of law, economics, and technology, with foundational work on infrastructural resources and knowledge commons governance. His scholarship critically examines techno-social engineering, digital consent mechanisms, and the strategic implementation of 'friction-in-design' to counteract efficiency-driven optimization that erodes human autonomy. This approach spans cyberlaw, intellectual property frameworks, and privacy architectures.
As lead PI for the Workshop on Governing Knowledge Commons and series editor for Cambridge Studies on Governing Knowledge Commons, he drives collaborative research across institutions. His teaching encompasses Internet Law, Law/Economics of Technology, and Privacy at Villanova, while upcoming 2025 presentations at IASC, HHAI, and UNESCO address cognitive engagement in hybrid systems and knowledge commons regeneration.
