South Dakota School of Mines and Technologyمعرفی
Bret Lingwall is Associate Professor of Civil Engineering specializing in geotechnical, bio-geotechnical and earthquake engineering. His BIO-ARC research initiative explores nature-inspired resilient infrastructure through collaborations with Princeton University and Colorado State University.
Current projects include NSF-funded work on accelerated carbon mineralization sequestration, FHWA-supported slope stabilization using microbial bio-cement, and studies on mega-flora anchorage systems. Lingwall teaches geotechnical engineering courses using flipped classroom formats and field-based learning.
With 12 years' industry experience in infrastructure design, his research addresses seismic hazards, liquefaction phenomena, and sustainable construction methods. He serves as Vice President of South Dakota's ASCE chapter and peer-reviews earthquake engineering research globally.
