Bret Hughes

Bret Hughes is a Professor of Clinical Education in the Department of Ophthalmology at Wayne State University School of Medicine, Detroit, Michigan. He earned his medical degree from Tulane University in New Orleans and completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of South Florida in Tampa, followed by a glaucoma fellowship at the Kresge Eye Institute of Wayne State University.

His research and clinical work concentrate on glaucoma diagnosis and surgical management, with particular emphasis on filtration surgery outcomes, adjunctive use of antimetabolites such as Mitomycin-C, and reliability assessment of visual field testing in diverse patient populations.

Although no recent publications are listed, the three mid-1990s articles underscore a sustained focus on improving surgical success rates in glaucoma and refining perimetric evaluation techniques.
