Bret Crane is an Associate Professor of Leadership and Executive Director of the Stephen R. Covey Leadership Center at Utah State University’s Jon M. Huntsman School of Business. He holds a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, an MBA, and a BA from Brigham Young University.
His research focuses on leadership mindsets, organizational behavior, and ethics. He has published in journals like Harvard Business Review, Journal of Business Ethics, and Journal of World Business. His work addresses global talent management, cross-cultural leadership, and stakeholder trust. He consults with major firms including Coca-Cola, American Express, Honda, and others to enhance leadership and organizational culture.
Teaching highlights include leadership courses (e.g., MSLE 3800), the Seven Habits Journey program, and University Connections. He received the 2021 Teacher of the Year award.
As Executive Director of the Covey Leadership Center, he promotes leadership development through academic programs and partnerships. His research and teaching emphasize practical applications of leadership theories in diverse organizational contexts.
