Brent Wilson

Brent Wilson serves as Director of Choral Studies and Department Chair of Performing Arts at Ventura College, while also holding roles at Viterbo University and the University of California, Santa Barbara. His expertise spans choral conducting, opera direction, and vocal training. Wilson has led over 20 productions with Opera Santa Barbara and received National Opera Association accolades for his work on Twelfth Night and Trouble in Tahiti.

• Bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics, Augustana College

Wilson’s research focuses on revitalizing overlooked works by Gian Carlo Menotti, particularly those premiered on 1960s–70s NBC/CBS broadcasts. He has collaborated with ensembles like Boston Baroque, Chicago Opera Theater, and the Santa Barbara Master Chorale, emphasizing interdisciplinary training for young performers.

Recognition: Top prizes from the National Opera Association for collegiate productions, member of prestigious music associations including the American Choral Directors Association.

Wilson also leads vocal and opera programs at multiple institutions, mentors Broadway-bound students (e.g., Hamilton, School of Rock), and maintains an active athletic profile, completing Ironman competitions and mountain trail runs.
