Brent Vander Wyk is a Researcher and Core Co-Leader of the Biostatistics Core at Yale's Older Americans Independence Center (OAIC) within the Yale School of Medicine. He holds affiliations with the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC), Developmental Disabilities Program, and Internal Medicine Department. He earned a PhD in Psychology from Carnegie Mellon University (2006) and a BSc in Psychology from the University of Connecticut (2000).
His research focuses on biostatistical methods for aging-related studies, including longitudinal data analysis, functional neuroimaging, and translational biomarker development. Key areas include cognitive changes in aging, multimodal data integration, and immune responses in infectious diseases.
Recent articles highlight work on Alzheimer's biomarkers in macaque models, mortality ascertainment in elderly populations, and healthcare utilization patterns. He collaborates with experts like Thomas Gill and Heather Allore on aging-related projects. Current clinical trials involve interventions for myocardial infarction, autism therapies, and sleep-immune system interactions.
Vander Wyk's work emphasizes improving statistical rigor in complex datasets and addressing health disparities. He contributes to Yale's OAIC and ADRC initiatives, advancing interdisciplinary research in aging science.
