Brent Shelton is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Kentucky and serves as Division Chief of Cancer Biostatistics at the Markey Cancer Center. He holds additional leadership roles as Co-Director of the Biostatistics Shared Resource Facility and is a member of the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Program. His academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Biostatistics from the University of North Carolina (1998), an M.S. from the same institution (1992), and a B.A. from Berea College (1986).
Dr. Shelton's research focuses on advanced biostatistical methodologies with particular emphasis on:
- Analysis of datasets with missing data and selection bias
- Design and analysis of group-randomized behavioral interventions
- Environmental exposure assessment related to cancer in Appalachian populations
- Statistical methods for cancer screening and prevention research
