Brent Godfrey

Brent Godfrey serves as a Westerfield Fellow at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, where his academic work focuses on community and economic development, leadership education, tax policy, and trusts and estates.

His research integrates field experience from founding Crescent City Corps—a non-profit delivering anti-racist leadership training to first responders—with his background as a New Orleans firefighter, U.S. Navy officer, and National Outdoor Leadership School expedition leader. This unique perspective shapes his interdisciplinary approach to legal education and community development policy.

Prior to Yale Law, Godfrey's career included policy work at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and summer associate roles at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP. His practical experience directly informs his scholarly focus on bridging legal theory with real-world community impact.
