Brent Christner is an Associate Professor and Preeminent Scholar in the Department of Microbiology and Cell Science at the University of Florida. His research focuses on microbial physiology, ecology, and biogeochemistry in extreme environments such as the cryosphere and atmosphere. He leads the Christner Research Group, which explores microbial adaptations to low-temperature and low-energy habitats, including subglacial lakes, stratospheric aerosols, and karst aquifers.
Education: B.S. in Molecular Biology (Westminster College, 1992); M.S. in Microbiology (University of Dayton, 1996); Ph.D. in Microbiology (The Ohio State University, 2002).
