Brendan Nyhan is the James O. Freedman Presidential Professor in the Department of Government at Dartmouth College, specializing in political misperceptions, media dynamics, and experimental methods. He holds a Ph.D. from Duke University and has served as a Robert Wood Johnson Scholar in Health Policy and a faculty member at the University of Michigan’s Ford School of Public Policy. His research explores the intersection of political communication, health policy, and democratic institutions, with a focus on combating misinformation and analyzing election integrity.

Research Interests: Nyhan’s work addresses conspiracy theories, political scandal, and the role of media in shaping public opinion. He co-directs Bright Line Watch, a nonpartisan democracy monitoring group, and has contributed to outlets like The New York Times and Columbia Journalism Review. His studies frequently employ experimental methods to assess interventions targeting misinformation and vaccine hesitancy.
