Professor Brendan McCormack is a globally recognized academic and leader in nursing and healthcare. He currently serves as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health and Head of the Susan Wakil School of Nursing & Midwifery at the University of Sydney. Previously, he held leadership roles at Queen Margaret University, Ulster University, and other institutions across Europe and Australia.
His research focuses on person-centred care, implementation science, and gerontology. He has authored over 600 publications, including 240 peer-reviewed journal articles and 12 books. McCormack’s work emphasizes participatory/action research and the integration of arts and creativity in healthcare.

Key awards include the International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame (2014), Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (2019), and Thomson Reuters’ top 3,000 global researchers (2014). He is also an Honorary Fellow of multiple institutions, including the Royal College of Nursing.
M McCormack’s leadership spans roles as editor of the International Journal of Older People Nursing and associate director of the Centre for Person-centred Practice Research. His contributions to healthcare policy and practice have influenced international standards in nursing and aged care.
