Brendan Kelly is the Director of Introductory Math at Harvard University's Department of Mathematics, where he focuses on teaching, curriculum development, and educational leadership. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from The University of Utah and a B.A. in Mathematics from The College of New Jersey.
His professional interests include math instruction innovation, supporting STEM students, and teacher training. He leads initiatives such as the Boston Math Teachers Circle (collaborative problem-solving workshops) and the Emerging Scholars Program (STEM enrichment). He co-authored open-source textbooks like Intermediate Algebra: A Functional Approach and Functions and their Rates of Change, emphasizing active learning.
He also contributed to Pathways through Calculus, an open-access curriculum expanding access to calculus education. His work integrates technology in classrooms and promotes math for social justice.
