Brendan Bohannan is a Professor of Biology and Environmental Studies at the University of Oregon, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. He joined the faculty in 2006 after 9 years at Stanford University. His research focuses on microbial biodiversity, ecology, and evolution, particularly in the context of global change and human impacts. He holds a Ph.D. from Michigan State University and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Chicago.
Bohannan’s research spans microbial communities in natural and built environments, including studies on host-associated microbes, methane cycling in Amazonian soils, and microbiome dynamics in human and animal hosts. His work integrates experimental and theoretical approaches to address fundamental questions in microbial ecology and evolutionary biology.
