Brendan Balestrieri

Brendan Balestrieri is a Professor of Practice at the School of Diplomacy and International Relations, Seton Hall University. He teaches courses on International Relations, Comparative Homeland Security, American Grand Strategy, and International Security. His research focuses on military alliances, military reserve forces, and inter-Korean relations. He holds a Ph.D. from Korea University (2022), MAs from Johns Hopkins University (2015) and Korea University (2013), and a BA from The Citadel (2004).

With over 20 years of U.S. military experience, he serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve, primarily overseas. His work appears in outlets like The Diplomat, Journal of Strategic Security, and War on the Rocks. His expertise bridges academia and practical military strategy, emphasizing contemporary security challenges.
