Brenda Schroeder is an Associate Professor in the Department of Entomology, Plant Pathology and Nematology at the University of Idaho's College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. Research focuses on plant pathogen detection, soil microbiomes, and disease management in crops.
Education includes:
- Ph.D. from Washington State University
- M.S. from North Carolina State University
- B.S. from University of Wisconsin-Madison
Research examines nematode-bacteria interactions, volatile biomarker detection for plant diseases, and soil microbiome dynamics in potato cultivation. Recent work characterizes Rathayibacter species and develops diagnostic tools for bacterial/fungal pathogens affecting potatoes, onions, and grasses.
Teaches PLSC 415: Plant Pathology. Recent publications focus on innovative detection methods including ion mobility spectrometry, agglutination assays, and genomic analysis of phytopathogens.
