Brenda Gabioud Brown

Dr. Brenda Gabioud Brown serves as Dean of the School of Interdisciplinary Studies and Humanities and Professor of English at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO). Since 1992, she has been a core faculty member, specializing in Modern/Postmodern American Literature and Composition & Rhetoric. She chairs USAO’s Study Abroad Program, organizing annual educational trips to locations including Europe, South America, and the Mediterranean since 2008.

Education: PhD in English (Texas Christian University), MA in English (University of Texas at Arlington), BA in English (University of North Texas).

Her research emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to literature and pedagogy. Recent scholarly work includes analyses of war narratives in American literature and the intersection of rhetoric with cultural identity. She has presented at conferences such as the South Central Modern Language Association and the College English Association.

Dr. Brown actively participates in institutional governance, serving as Chair of the USAO Higher Learning Commission Peer Review Committee and President of the USAO Faculty Association (2017–2018). She also revived the Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society at USAO in 2007.
