University of North Carolina at Chapel Hillمعرفی
Dr. Brandi Reeves is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, specializing in the Division of Hematology. She serves as a clinician-investigator and co-Principal Investigator of the UNC Lineberger MDS Foundation Center of Excellence, with her clinical practice focused at the UNC Blood Research Center.
Dr. Reeves completed her undergraduate education at Berea College, earned her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, completed her Internal Medicine residency at Mayo Clinic, and finished her hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Her research program centers on myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN), with particular emphasis on understanding thrombosis mechanisms in MPN patients and developing better risk stratification approaches. She leads the UNC MPN program established in 2019, which provides specialized clinical and research expertise for MPN patients. Her work also extends to myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and bone marrow failure syndromes, with research interests including clonal hematopoiesis and interventional clinical trials to improve patient outcomes.
Dr. Reeves' recent publication record shows consistent productivity with numerous high-impact publications in journals like Blood, New England Journal of Medicine, and Lancet Haematology. Her work spans both clinical trials in multiple myeloma and fundamental research on MPN pathophysiology, demonstrating her dual expertise in clinical hematology and translational research.
She is actively involved in medical education, contributing to the training of medical students, residents, and fellows at UNC. Her clinical practice focuses on providing specialized care for patients with complex hematologic malignancies, particularly those with MPN, MDS, and bone marrow failure syndromes.
Dr. Reeves maintains an active research laboratory as part of the UNC Blood Research Center, where her team investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying thrombotic complications in MPN patients and develops novel therapeutic approaches to reduce this major cause of morbidity and mortality in this patient population.
