Brandi Holley serves as Assistant Professor of Accounting in the Department of Accounting at Samford University's Brock School of Business, where she has taught since 2020. Her instructional responsibilities include Income Tax I and II, and Government and Nonprofit Accounting courses.
Holley holds a Ph.D. in Accountancy, Master of Science in Taxation, and Bachelor of Arts in Art History—all from the University of Mississippi. Prior to her academic career, she accumulated seven years of professional experience in public accounting across Oxford, Mississippi, and Nashville, Tennessee, followed by two years in the nonprofit sector. She maintains active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure in Alabama and Mississippi.
Her research program centers on accounting history with distinctive emphasis on biographical studies of influential figures, historical evolution of accounting practices, and archival analysis of primary sources. Holley frequently examines contributions of underrepresented groups in the profession and investigates pedagogical developments through historical lenses. Her methodological approach combines archival research with contextual historical analysis to illuminate professional ethics development and institutional evolution.
Scholarly output demonstrates consistent focus on historical narratives, featuring publications in the Accounting Historians Journal and The CPA Journal. Her work spans analyses of 19th-century maritime trade accounting, tributes to tax education pioneers, examinations of professional organizations' histories, and explorations of landmark figures' societal impacts—particularly highlighting Dr. Larzette Golden Hale's legacy as an African American accounting pioneer.
No scientific awards or major grants are documented in available sources. Professional activities remain concentrated on teaching excellence and historical research within accounting academia.
