Bram Van Heuveln

Bram Van Heuveln is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Cognitive Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He specializes in enhancing logical reasoning through visual representations and is actively involved in undergraduate education across cognitive science, logic, artificial intelligence, critical thinking, and philosophy of mind.

As Director of the Minds and Machines Program in Cognitive Technology, he oversees initiatives engaging students in research on AI, Cognitive Robotics, and Synthetic Characters. He spearheaded the creation of Rensselaer’s undergraduate major in Cognitive Science and directs the newly established Cognitive Robotics Laboratory. His affiliations extend to Information Technology and Web Science, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach to education and research.

Dr. van Heuveln’s teaching and research emphasize practical applications of cognitive science principles, fostering undergraduate involvement in cutting-edge projects.
