Braham Hughes is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Media, Humanities and the Arts at the University of Huddersfield. He holds dual memberships in the Centre for Audio and Psychoacoustic Engineering and the Centre for Research in Music and its Technologies. His educational background includes studies at University College Salford from 1993 to 1996.
His research focuses on the technical and perceptual aspects of audio engineering for visual media, with specialized interests in:
- Sound design for film and television
- Acoustic equalization and level control systems
- Psychoacoustic perception in media contexts
- Industry-standard post-production workflows
Hughes' publications demonstrate consistent focus on audio post-production innovation, examining both technical implementations like Foley sound mixing and user-centered solutions for sound placement interfaces. His work bridges theoretical acoustics and practical industry applications.
He has supervised 4 student research projects and contributes to two audio technology research centers. Contact is available via phone (01484 256274) or institutional email.
