Hyunkook Lee is a Professor of Audio and Psychoacoustic Engineering at the University of Huddersfield, where he directs the Applied Psychoacoustics Lab (APL) and the Centre for Audio and Psychoacoustic Engineering. He joined the university in 2010 and has pioneered research in 3D audio, spatial recording, and psychoacoustic applications in virtual reality.

Research Interests include:
- Psychoacoustics: Perception of height in 3D audio and interchannel crosstalk.
- Spatial Audio: Development of microphone arrays, panning, and upmixing techniques.
- Virtual Reality: Bridging XR and audio engineering for immersive experiences.
- Music Technology: Applications in commercial rap production and surround sound.

Advising & Grants: Actively supervises PhD students and participates in industry-funded projects with Samsung, Volvo, and MagicBeans. His research includes a £326k grant for 3D sound in the 'Audience of the Future'.
