Bradley Phillis serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of History at Appalachian State University's College of Arts and Sciences, specializing in European Medieval History with research emphases on crusading traditions, manuscript culture, and Flemish political-intellectual history.
His academic background includes a 2018 PhD in Medieval History from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, preceded by six years of high school history and Latin instruction. Current research centers on his book project Descended Equally from Royal Seed, which investigates how the counts of Flanders developed and leveraged crusading traditions during the twelfth century.
