Bradley Davidson is Associate Professor of Biology at Swarthmore College, where he researches developmental mechanisms in chordate embryos. A Swarthmore alumnus ('91), he studies heart formation using the sea squirt Ciona intestinalis model system.
His lab investigates FGF signaling pathways in cardiac progenitor specification, mitotic regulation of growth factor receptors, and neural contributions to heart development. Recent work reveals how matrix adhesion coordinates asymmetric cell divisions during early cardiogenesis.
Davidson teaches courses in developmental biology, cellular biology, and evolution-development connections. His research provides insights into congenital heart defects by studying conserved cardiac development pathways.
