Bradford S. Jones is a Professor of Political Science at the University of California, Davis, and a Faculty Affiliate at the UC Davis Global Migration Center. He also serves as Media Liaison and Board Member for Humane Borders (Tucson, AZ), focusing on humanitarian efforts in the U.S.-Mexico border region. His work bridges academia and activism, emphasizing social justice and policy impact.
He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Stony Brook University (1994). His research integrates political science with social psychology and sociology to address issues such as deportation policy, migrant deaths in the Sonoran Desert, and Latinx identity. He co-authored Event History Modeling for the Social Sciences, a foundational text in political methodology.
Dr. Jones is a frequent media commentator, featured in outlets like the New York Times, Washington Post, and international media in Australia, France, Italy, and Northern Ireland. He advocates for evidence-based immigration policy and humanitarian aid, volunteering with Humane Borders to install water stations in high-risk migrant routes.
He mentors students from underrepresented groups, fostering careers in policy, law, and academia. His commitment to social justice extends beyond academia through his decade-long involvement with Humane Borders, including authorized water station deployment in Arizona’s Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument.
