Braden Berkey

Braden Berkey serves as Associate Professor and Clinical Psy.D. Program Chair in the Department of Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School's College of Professional Psychology (Chicago campus). A core faculty member since 2009, he has held leadership roles including Multicultural & Diversity Affairs Committee Chair, Chicago Faculty Council Chair (2016-2017), Past Chair (2017-2018), and current National Faculty Council Representative (2021-present).

His educational background includes:

• Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology, Wright State University, Dayton, OH (1989)
• B.S. in Psychology (Biology minor), University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, Johnstown, PA (1984)

Dr. Berkey specializes in clinical psychology with a focus on gender, sexuality, and diversity. His research and practice address GLBT identity models, multicultural competence, racism and white privilege, HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, and ethical issues. He advocates for culturally competent mental health care for sexual and gender minority populations, integrating these principles into his teaching and private practice.

He has held key leadership roles: Director of Behavioral Health at Howard Brown Health Center (expanding graduate training and substance abuse programs), founder of the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Institute at the Center on Halsted, and current Executive Director of Projects Advancing Sexual Diversity (PASD). He also directs the Multiplicity of The Erotic Conference and serves on boards including Legal Council for Health Justice and the Community-Academic Consortium for Research on Alternative Sexualities.
