Brad Richards, MD, MBA, is an Associate Professor of Medicine (General Medicine) at Yale School of Medicine and holds an Assistant Professor appointment at Yale School of Management. He serves as Executive Director of the Yale Primary Care Internal Medicine Residency Program, Senior Medical Advisor at Connecticut's Department of Social Services (DSS), and previously served as CMO overseeing Medicaid/CHIP. He is a practicing primary care physician and co-leads courses on Population Health & Health Equity (Yale SOM) and Everyday Leadership (Yale School of Public Health).
Education: MD from Georgetown University School of Medicine (2010), MBA from Yale School of Management (2018, Healthcare Track). Completed Internal Medicine residency and Chief Resident year at Yale.
Research Interests: Focuses on primary care innovation, health equity, healthcare leadership, and payment reform. Active in curriculum development for primary care training programs and leadership education.
Professional Engagement: Maintains clinical practice in inpatient/outpatient settings, advises on state healthcare policy, and contributes to national discussions on transforming primary care through payment system reforms.
