Brad R Solomon

Brad R. Solomon is a Teaching Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), affiliated with the Siebel School of Computing and Data Science within the Grainger College of Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Computational Biology from Carnegie Mellon University and an undergraduate degree from Northwestern University, where he majored in Computer Science, Molecular Biology and Genomics, and Integrated Sciences.

His research interests span computational biology, focusing on scalable algorithms for genomic data analysis, and educational innovation, including pedagogical tools for large-scale teaching and mentorship. He actively contributes to programs broadening participation in computing and enhancing the undergraduate research experience.

At UIUC, Solomon teaches courses such as CS 173 (Discrete Structures), CS 225 (Data Structures), and CS 277 (Algorithms & Data Structures for Data Science). He has received recognition for teaching excellence and contributed to initiatives like the Chancellor’s Research Program-funded mentoring project and the Illinois CS Summer Teaching Workshop.
