Brad Murray

Brad Murray is an Associate Professor of Ecology and Discipline Leader of Environmental Sciences at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). He leads research on plant flammability in fire-prone ecosystems and conservation of Australia's biodiversity. His work spans fire ecology, urban forestry, and ecological restoration, supported by funding from the Australian Research Council, NSW Environmental Trust, and multiple government agencies.

Education: PhD (Macquarie University), BSc (University of Sydney). His research group includes Dr. Zoe Xirocostas, Molly Wallace (PhD), Olivia De La Mare (MSc), and Honours students Adam Powell and Tully Lily-Merigan.

Recent research focuses on scaling plant flammability traits to landscape fire behavior, post-megafire biodiversity impacts, and community perceptions of urban tree plantings. Over 110 peer-reviewed articles and 18 funded research projects highlight his contributions to ecological science and applied conservation.
