Brad J. Cartwright

Dr. Brad J. Cartwright is an Associate Professor of Instruction in the Department of History at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts. He directs the Center for History Teaching and Learning, which supports history teacher education and promotes scholarly approaches to history instruction.

Research Interests: Focuses on race, gender, and imperialism in 19th-century America and the Pacific Basin. Engages in pedagogical scholarship on history teaching methodologies and curriculum design.

Awards:

• 2015 University of Texas Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award

Teaching & Leadership: Teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on early American history, antebellum America, and history pedagogy. Oversees initiatives to enhance history education through the Center for History Teaching and Learning.
