Boris Maia

Bóris Maia is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Federal Fluminense University (UFF) and a Visiting Scholar at the Lemann Center for Educational Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Brazil at Stanford University. He holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology and specializes in sociocultural anthropology, focusing on state power dynamics and formal education systems in Brazil.

His research examines intersections of race, ethnicity, religion, and gender in Brazilian schooling, analyzing hierarchies and conflicts linked to classroom authority. He investigates educational policy, school violence, and diversity management through anthropological and sociological frameworks.

At UFF, he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Social Sciences, Anthropology, and Public Security programs. His recent work focuses on conflict resolution strategies by school staff in everyday educational settings.
