Boris Holzer

Prof. Boris Holzer, Ph.D., is a Professor of General Sociology and Macrosociology at the Department of History and Sociology, University of Konstanz. He has held academic positions at the University of Lucerne (Assistant Professor, 2007-2009), Bielefeld University (Professor of Political Sociology, 2009-2016), and is currently a Principal Investigator in the Cluster of Excellence "The Politics of Inequality" and the research initiative "Transforming Infrastructure". He was previously a Principal Investigator for the Cluster of Excellence "Cultural Foundations of Integration" (2017). He co-edits two book series: Die Einheit der Gesellschaftswissenschaften im 21. Jahrhundert (Mohr Siebeck) and Studien zur Weltgesellschaft/World Society Studies (Campus).

His research focuses on globalization studies, social theory, social networks, and political sociology. He has explored topics like planetary eurocentrism, functional differentiation, network dynamics, and corporate accountability in transnational governance. His recent publications address the Anthropocene, pandemic communication networks, and the interplay between polarization and integration in world society.

Key cooperations include the Centre for Human | Data | Society, the Cluster of Excellence "The Politics of Inequality", and the "Transforming Infrastructure" initiative. He has contributed to interdisciplinary dialogues on global social change and soft law frameworks.
