Roles and Affiliation: PD Dr. Boris Burghardt is a Lecturer and Acting Professor of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, Comparative Law, and Legal Philosophy at the Law School of Humboldt University of Berlin. During the winter semester 2021/2022, he taught courses on Contemporary Legal History, International Criminal Law, and organized criminal law examinations. He actively participates in academic events, including the Blankensee Colloquium on Sexual Self-Determination and international symposia on Nazi crime prosecution and transitional justice.
Research Interests: His work focuses on criminal law theory, international criminal law, legal philosophy, and the intersection of law with societal issues like sexual autonomy. He has co-edited a special issue of the German Law Journal on Sexual Violence and Criminal Justice in the 21st Century, demonstrating expertise in gender and criminal justice. His research also addresses historical legal accountability, such as late prosecution of Nazi-era crimes and colonial heritage in German law.
