Bonnie Van Lunen

Bonnie Van Lunen is a Professor, Dean of the Ellmer College of Health Sciences, and Senior Associate Vice President of Academic Innovation at Old Dominion University. She holds a Ph.D. in Physical Education from the University of Virginia (1998), an M.Ed. in Athletic Training from the same institution (1991), and a B.A. in Physical Education from Castleton State College (1990).

Her research focuses on sports medicine, athletic training, and biomechanics, with emphasis on injury prevention, rehabilitation techniques, and evidence-based practice implementation. She has secured over $3 million in grants from federal, state, and private sources, including a $1.5M NIH grant for functional evaluation of musculoskeletal injuries.

Publications (2014-2018) primarily investigate athletic training education, biomechanical assessments, injury prevention strategies, and rehabilitation efficacy. Common themes include evidence-based practice adoption, biomechanical risk factors for injuries, and interventions for lower extremity conditions.
