Bonnie Pang is a Senior Lecturer in Sport at the University of Bath's Department for Health. She holds affiliations with the Centre for Qualitative Research, Centre for Research in Education in Asia (CREA), and the Centre for Sport, Physical Activity and Health Equality (SPHERE). Her research focuses on psycho-social and cultural dynamics of minorities, using qualitative methods to explore social cohesion, inequalities, and subjectivities. She currently supervises four postgraduate students researching disability and sport, online hate in football, Paralympic gender studies, and South African university mental health.
Externally, Pang serves as an Adjunct Fellow at Western Sydney University, an editorial board member for Sport, Education and Society, and associate editor for Leisure Sciences. She is Deputy Director of the Centre for Qualitative Research and holds ILM coaching certification for doctoral networks. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals addressing inequality and education.
Key projects include 'Rethinking Health Experience and Active Lifestyles' (focusing on Chinese communities in Australia) and 'Informal Sport and Urban Social Life' (ESRC-funded). Recent publications examine urban space inequalities, gender-fluid bodybuilding narratives, and Indo-Fijian girls' sport participation, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach to social justice themes.
Recognitions include the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship (2019) and AIESEP Young Scholar Award (2011). She actively engages in public-facing research through initiatives like 'Catalysts for Change,' promoting qualitative doctoral training and community engagement.
