Bonnie H. Ferri is a Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology and currently serves as the Vice Provost for Graduate Education and Faculty Development. She previously held roles as Associate Chair for Undergraduate and Graduate Affairs in ECE. Her research focuses on embedded control systems and engineering education, emphasizing hands-on learning and curriculum innovation. Dr. Ferri has led initiatives such as the TESSAL Center and the Commission on Creating the Next in Education, advocating for blended learning and mobile STEM education. She has also served in leadership roles within the IEEE Control Systems Society and organized major conferences like the 2022 American Control Conference.
Dr. Ferri holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, an M.S. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech. Her career includes industry experience at Honeywell before transitioning to academia. She has pioneered experimental platforms for teaching, such as portable guitar string systems and LEGO-based control modules, to enhance student engagement.
Her research spans real-time computing, control systems, and educational technology. Notable contributions include frameworks for power-aware systems and speculative thread management in digital filters. She has also developed vertically integrated project teams to create hands-on learning modules, blending theory with practical application.
